Why extratextual information is not included in summaries
From my understanding, summaries are about specifically the information given. Whether it be a film, book, article or whatever, it should summarize the information that is presented in that specific piece of work. Therefore, it would make sense that no outside information is included in a summary that wasn't presented in the piece of work because it wouldn't be a summary anymore if it was included even if it was to make the information more understandable. If the information needs to be setup more for the audience to understand then the piece of work needs to include it.
